Dubai Municipality has successfully completed a $7 million beautification project at the intersection of Airport Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, a stunning landmark visible to passengers arriving in the city by air. The project features the iconic “Welcome to Dubai” sign, greeting visitors in both Arabic and English, offering a vibrant and welcoming view of the city.
The initiative aligns with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to position the city as the world’s best place to live. According to Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, this green space represents the city’s commitment to sustainability and environmental enhancement while elevating Dubai’s global appeal as a tourist destination.
Covering over 360,000 square meters, this large-scale project includes an array of decorative features such as colorful gravel and innovative lighting, ensuring a dynamic visual experience both day and night. Over 50,000 plants and shrubs have been planted, alongside various vegetation species selected for their aesthetic qualities. In addition, modern irrigation systems have been implemented to ensure water-efficient greenery, blending urban development with sustainable practices.
Dubai Municipality remains dedicated to expanding green spaces throughout the Emirate, with plans to develop similar projects that further enhance Dubai’s reputation as a unique and attractive global destination.
